The key to preserving the unique character of Manhattan Beach is strong, thoughtful and responsive leadership.

Today's issues are sure to change with time; we need community leaders with proven problem solving and consensus decision making skills on our City Council.

A regional approach to airport growth, protection of Los Angeles Air Force Base, and continued strong support of our public safety are but a few examples of current issues which most of us can agree upon.

Here are just a few examples of the manner in which I would approach key, ongoing policy issues as your Councilmember:

·`Mansionization'

Seek a better balance between the rights of property owners and the aggressive total build-out of our residential neighborhoods. Continue and increase efforts to make it easier for homeowners to remodel, and otherwise provide incentives to those who choose not to build new homes to absolute maximum allowable limits.

·Traffic Congestion

Aggressively scrutinize traffic implications and mitigation measures associated with regional-draw developments (i.e., Rosecrans corridor)

·Communication

Improve public access to city presentation facilities, add public bulletin board to city website, standardize project management and presentation methods, and aggressively incorporate electronic communications citywide.

·General Plan

Implement effective annual review (and revision where necessary) of key Implementation Guide portion of new General Plan, thereby better coordinating day-to-day operations with agreed upon, long-term strategic plans.
