SAVE OUR PARK OR GIVE US A NEW ONE!!

By Felicia Mollinedo

Candidate for Council Member; City of San Gabriel

This information is provided by the candidate
Restore and Renovate Vincent Lugo Park to meet the needs of the growing number of Children, Families and Teens in our city. How can we bring another park into our city?
Now I personally would like to see another park in our city. But the reality is our tax base is very low. We have a new hotel coming in and I would like to see some of that revenue go towards the development of another park for our children, families, seniors, and teens!!

How about you?

In the meanwhile, how about putting some monies into creating a gym at Vincent Lugo Park. Can you believe some people are considering tearing it down? I love soccer!! I love baseball. I especially love basketball. Of course we need room for those great sports. I think its time for collectively finding ways that we can create an environment in our city where all of those needs of our young and old can be met. The city of Alhambra has FIVE Parks: Story Park, Almansor Park, Alhambra Park, Granada Park, and Moor Field. All of these parks have baseball diamonds.

What is going on in our city that after 50 years we still only have 1.5 parks? Smith park although beautiful is tiny and limited in its services. Where can children play baseball, soccer, basketball or tennis? And from what most of the community tells me they do not feel safe leaving their children there to play because the handball courts are often a gathering area for the teenagers who don't have anywhere else to go and spend their time. We need a boys and girls club for our teen youth, we need teen centers so that our city is providing age appropriate activity choices to its local youth. We need another park and we need a gym with improved and more affordable enrichment activities for our young and age blessed!!

If you agree with any of these concerns please vote on March the 8th for Felicia Mollinedo so that we can begin the process together of advocating for a new park or renovation of Vincent Lugo Park!
