Candidate's Statemrnt.

By Tela Millsap

Candidate for Council Member; City of La Habra Heights

This information is provided by the candidate
.
Over the past nearly four years, I have been privileged to serve as your Mayor and Councilmember. During that time many important city issues have been addressed, resolved and improved upon.

The city is now financially sound due to efficient budget planning and management. Cash reserves have been substantially increased.

An updated General Plan that better protects your property rights and our community's rural character was completed.

I initiated the reduction of the District 1 Road Assessment Bond's interest rate. The City Manager calculates the savings to property owners over the remaining term to be $727,532.

Effective January 1st, new Paramedic Services were added to our city's Fire Department. Paramedics are now on duty around the clock at our Fire Station. Previously, any person in our city that needed emergency medical aid had to wait for Paramedics and an ambulance to respond from the city of La Habra and other locations outside the city.

I support Ballot Measure A which will continue the existing funding for our Fire Department. I support Ballot Measure B which will allow the new Paramedic Services to be funded using a portion of the existing Fire Funds. These two measures require no new taxes and are vital to continuing the Fire Department's service to our residents.

If re-elected, I will vigorously work toward modernizing the fire facilities so the Fire Department can function more efficiently. Providing a better working environment for our Firemen and Paramedics will result in higher quality emergency services for you, your family and your home.

I will continue to strive for excellence in our city government. I will continue to work with other council members, city staff, commissions and committees toward improving the city's service to its residents.

I respectfully ask for your support in the upcoming election.
