As a father, Ed thoroughly enjoys living and raising his daughter in Signal Hill. During the past eight years, as a councilman, he has worked hard to be an advocate for the citizens of Signal Hill (including kids) and to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in the city. Signal Hill is now considered one of the best cities in LA County. In prior campaigns Councilman Wilson made the following promises: 1) have the city address quality of life issues, six new parks opened; 2) have the city be fiscally responsible, balanced budgets for eight years and increased reserves in the midst of CA state fiscal crisis; 3) support a strong police force, increased sworn officers by 7% increased annual police budget by over 60% which equates to 40% of the city's annual budget; 4) to fight for our own zip code, 90755; 5) get the city's first grocery store, Food 4 Less; 6) have the city develop quality single family housing resulting in increased property values, Bixby Ridge, Estates, Town homes, etc. These promises were made and these promises were kept. Ed states his priorities for the next four years are to address the growing parking issues through out the city; ensuring a police force that keeps up with the growth in the city by implementing the Blue Ribbon Committee's recommendations; stable and sustained business and residential growth; bring in view oriented restaurants; balanced city budgets; enhanced educational and recreational activities for children, and accountability to the citizens. In addition to serving on council further community involvement include: Ø President, Gateway Cities COG Ø President, LA Division of CA League of Cities Ø Chairman, SH Unified School District Formation Committee Ø Boardmember, LBCC Board of Foundation Ø Boardmember, CA League of Cities Ø Boardmember, LA County Commission for Local Government Services Ø Boardmember, LA Economic Development Corporation Ø Boardmember, Rivers and Mountains Conservancy Ø Life time member SHHPOA Ed is currently employed as the Budget Control Manager of an International Tractor Manufacturer. Prior job titles include VP/Controller, Comptroller, IAM and CFO. He is a graduate of USC brings extensive business experience to government. Ed is proud to represent the city of Signal Hill and respectfully asks for your vote for re-election to Signal Hill City Council on March 1. |
