Candidate for
Board Member; Burbank Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I am third generation "Los Angelino," with both my mother and grandmother born and raised locally. My grandfather, a Polish immigrant, married my grandmother right out of the Marine Corps. He served for 29 years on the L.A.P.D. In fact, that motto on the cars, "To Protect and to Serve" was written by him + with a lot of help from my mother!

I attended 12 years of Catholic School, elementary at St. Charles on Moorpark in North Hollywood, followed by High School at the all-girls Our Lady of Corvallis. My first experience with "public education" was the two years I attended Valley College. I graduated cum Laude from U.S.C. Film School, and began my career as a production assistant on the ill-fated Warren Beatty/Dustin Hofman film, Ishtar. I quickly moved into representing actors for film and television at the Terry Lichtman Agency, where I worked hard on the behalf of my clients. An important skill which has stayed with me from that experience is the ability to listen to people and solve their problems in a calm, effective, and expeditious manner.

After the birth of my first daughter Kendall in 1992, (my daughter Bronwen was born in '95) I segued from full-time talent to part-time property management, as buildings are far less demanding than actors! With my husband working the long hours required in TV production (he's been riding his bike to the set of ER for the last 11 years), I felt it was important for me to be available to my children and have been fortunate enough to have the time to devote to their education, their schools and their extracurricular enrichment.

My husband and I recently celebrated two happy "15th Anniversaries"-- marriage and living in Burbank! My daughters attend Roosevelt Elementary and Jordan Middle Schools, where they are both thriving under the expert guidance of teachers that are unparalleled!

I am active in my daughters' schools, always eager to share my time, talent and treasure. I am serving on the Executive Board of the Roosevelt Elementary PTA and the Booster Club as well as serve on that School's Site Council. This will be my 4th year chairing the Roosevelt PTA's Variety Show, an event I originally signed up for before my daughters were even enrolled at the school. (The show is always a sell-out, so if you want tickets, I suggest you buy them as soon as they go on sale!)

Earlier this year, I was appointed by the Burbank City Council to the Community Development Goals Committee, and am currently serving the first of a four-year term.
