Questions & Answers

1. What does California need to do to address the current budget crisis?

Restore the jobs lost to other states in our nation. We need to adopt programs and policies that are competitive and favor the use of our natural resources and demographic advantages. Only this will restore revenues to the state from sales and income taxes.

2. What should the state's priorities be for K-12 education? For the Community College System?

Learning the basics and teaching at least one foreign language to every student. Our children must be able to work effectively in a global business environment.

3. What measures would you support to address California's water needs?

Old policies and building concepts must be replaced with new technologies in renewable and sustainable cities. We need to rebuild California's old infrastructure with cost effective transportation systems. This will require new sources of revenues for our cities and counties as they new depend on sales taxes generated by expensive cars, fuel taxes, and our wasteful consumption practices.

4. What should the Legislature be doing to address the needs of Californians without health insurance?

Helping them acquire the skills needed to get a job and providing an economic climate for employers to hire these Californian. Health care cost must be lowered by TORT reform, competitive bidding for drugs, and providing "self help" centers for those that have a basic understanding of their health needs. This includes programs for weight control, smoking disorders, and drug addiction.
