Larry's Priorities for California

Make Government More Accountable

  • Require truly independent audits to cut fraud and waste
  • Enact spending limits to ensure the Governor and legislature never spends us into debt again
  • Require competitive bidding
  • Eliminate pork barrel projects that cost taxpayers millions

Oppose Higher Taxes
  • Oppose any future efforts to raise the car tax
  • Support the tax savings provided under Proposition 13
  • Oppose a "split roll property tax," which will tax business and thwart job creation

Spark Economic Growth
  • Enact real workers' compensation reforms to rein in costly premiums and expedite benefits to injured workers
  • Work with Governor Schwarzenegger to reform California's energy policies so our state has reliable and affordable power
  • Reform the Unfair Competition Law to stop unscrupulous trial lawyers from shaking down employers
  • Work with Governor Schwarzenegger to improve California's business climate

Good Schools For Our Children
  • Give San Diego County school districts a greater say in how to run our schools
  • Invest in good teachers
  • Empower parents to have a greater say in curriculum and discipline
  • Reduce bureaucratic controls that tie the hands of school leaders and limit student achievement
  • Empower school administrators to take the steps needed to improve their schools

Make California Safer
  • Ensure police and firefighters have the tools and funding to protect our families

Health Care
  • Support federal efforts to ensure senior citizens are able to obtain needed prescription drugs at an affordable price
