Candidate for
United States Representative; District 28

I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, graduating from Ulysses S. Grant high school in 1967. My education then involved a lot of hopping around, starting at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, then to UCLA, then to the American University of Beirut for my junior year, and finally back to UCLA to graduate in 1971. It wasn't long before the University of California stopped sending students to Beirut. I originally went to New Mexico to major in archaeology, but I ended up more interested in philosophy. Since I actually hated the philosophy department at UCLA, I earned a degree in an "individual field." I did continue in philosophy, however, at the Unversity of Hawaii, and finally got my PhD at the Unversity of Texas. With hundreds of applicants for each philosophy position, it took me a while to find a job. But I did find one at Los Angeles Valley College in 1987 and have bene there ever since. I began my involvement in politics when I joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. I ran for California State Assemby in 1994, 1996, 1998, and 2002. I ran for US Congress in 2002 and now again in 2004.
