Support Our Students with Disabilities and from Diverse BackgroundsBy ANTHONY "FEL" AMISTADCandidate for Member, Board of Trustees; San Mateo County Board of Education; Trustee Area #4 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Education not only begins at home. Education deserves public and parental support. Our County is changing fast.Students are our future. We need to help all students, regardless of financial burdens, disadvantaged backgrounds, and special educational needs. With so many students entering our system, the diversity index has gone up tremendously. We must address dwindling financial resources in light of mandated services. Our children need help. As a community activist and proponent of public education, I want to ensure that new technologies are incorporated into the class room to enhance student performance and excellence. In our detention centers, troubled youth may suffer from mental illness or other ailments. We need to ensure that these students are medically screened and treated. Parents and teachers can help, but without the added support from the County Office of Education, our future leaders, our students, will have uncertain and potentially unsuccessful lives. I will support policies to improve student excellence and to ensure that the best technologies are applied to maximize school, teacher, and student performance. |
