What's right for Tracy

By Thomas A "Tom" Benigno

Candidate for Mayor; City of Tracy

This information is provided by the candidate
Growth or no growth it's a no win situation, but we must make something out of it.
The issues that are before us in this election are very controversial, although they have some merit for those that support them. Elected officials who say they are voting for measure U really feel that they are helping the schools, and they are bound to do that. The 600 homes per year until 2012 was a deal that was made with the city. Those that say they are not supporting U feel they are right. They don't want large costs to the new home buyers, or that the sewage capacity is not large enough. There are not enough schools and highways to carry the traffic, or that they just don't want any more growth, period. Measure V, the Ellis Bow tie supporters want a train station and a new transit system to move people to and from. With that the developer wants 1500 new homes to help pay for the project. All the supporters have the right to wish for their agenda. Are they all right? No, but one must understand this is progress. This is where I come in, to try and bring all these ideas together and make them work for everyone. It can be done, it should not be for the developers to decide. Who has more at stake the tax payers or the developers? In some cases the both are the same people. Whatever happens lets do it right.
