In order to build a healthy community, we must focus on improving the health of our environment. I have extensive experience in environmental issues and I believe we can do better in our city. Here's how:San Francisco has a long and proud tradition as being one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the country. A commitment to clean air and water, open space and sound energy policy is essential if we are to maintain our excellent quality of life. If we falter at protecting our natural environment, we will severely jeopardize our city's quality of life. As a lifelong conservationist, I will work tirelessly to help implement the key objectives outlined in the City's Sustainability Plan. This plan is critical to the long-term health of our community and as Supervisor, it will be one of my highest priorities. Specifically, I will focus on those issues where I can be most effective. They include:
