Goals if reelected?
1. To encourage Planning Group leadership to work hard to determine and support the public's desires on planning projects, not just rubber-stamp developers' proposals.
2. To work with the public, Project proponent, and the property owners, to recommend approval of a shopping center project at Valley Center/Cole Grade Roads that will be significantly different and better than just another typical southern California strip mall shopping center. That project will be the heart of a future "Town Center" that must concentrate commercial, industrial and higher density residential uses in as small an area as possible to preserve Valley Center's unique rural flavor. It must have internal circulation that improves, not aggravates, the current heavy traffic on Valley Center and Cole Grade Roads. I support a grocery of approximately 30,000 square feet offering a full range of products and services.
3. To support a "south node" plan to ensure the creation of Valley Center shopping areas appropriate to our needs, reflecting our rural values and flavor, and protecting existing businesses' opportunity to participate.
4. To work for a planted median on Valley Center Road between Woods Valley and Cole Grade Roads, with portions omitted to accommodate existing businesses.
Candidates who run and are elected should know and obey the laws on financial conflicts of interest, and how to hold open, responsive public meetings.
