Political Philosophy for Roberta MacGlashan
Candidate for |

|
Road Map for a Better Future Improving Transportation and Reducing Traffic Problems Completing planned road improvement along heavy traffic corridors, metering freeway on-ramps and improving synchronization of traffic signals will provide immediate traffic relief. Establishing better relations with cities and other agencies to develop cooperative traffic planning will help ensure long-term traffic relief. Roberta has been endorsed by every member of the Folsom, Rancho Cordova, and Elk Grove City Council, along dozens of other local leaders. Strengthening Public Safety Sacramento County has to make public safety is the top priority not just with slogans and words, but with funding, priorities and policies. As Mayor and Councilmember, Roberta MacGlashan helped expand sheriff patrols and reduce crime rates. Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanas, Sacramento Metro Fire Chief Rick Martinez, the Sacramento Deputy Sheriffs Association and the Sacramento Area Firefighters have endorsed Roberta MacGlashan. Creating Jobs & Expanding the Economy Sacramento is a place of opportunity to build a business, or to have a job with a great company. But we must cut red tape thatıs driving up the cost of business and keep taxes and fees low to ensure business want to locate here. As Mayor and Councilwoman, Roberta helped bring new jobs and businesses to the City. Sheıs earned the support of Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce; Tina Polley, President of Folsom Chamber of Commerce; Robert Grande, President of Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce; and Franklin Burris, President of North Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. Keeping Taxes Low & Cutting Waste and Fraud Higher taxes would hurt families and will drive jobs out of Sacramento County. Thatıs why Roberta opposes efforts to change Prop 13 or to create a local income tax. Roberta supports a Constitutional Amendment to prevent the State Legislature from ever taking local tax dollars again. As Mayor and City Councilmember, Roberta improved vital services and balanced the budget and added more than a full year to city reserves to protect taxpayers and the future. And she did with out any new taxes. Taxfighters like Joe Sullivan have endorsed Roberta MacGlashan. Bringing Common-Sense & Cooperation to the Board The county has not been good at building relationships with local cities we need to change that. The County and cities can and should work together to help improve the lives of citizens, reduce traffic and protect area resources like the American River Parkway. As Mayor, Councilmember and past Chair of LAFCO (a city/county partnership), Roberta has helped build better cooperation between cities and the county. Perhaps thatıs why every Mayor and City Councilmember in Folsom, Rancho Cordova and Elk Grove along with other county and city officials recommend Roberta MacGlashan for Supervisor. Cleaning up Campaigns and Limiting Special Interests Special interests have created chaos in the State Legislature where special interests spend millions on campaign contributions and lobbyists at the expense of taxpayers. We need to clean up campaigns in Sacramento County with stronger ethics rules and more open disclosure in county campaigns and in government. Roberta MacGlashan has signed the Code of Fair Campaign Practices and supports more open disclosure and public access for campaigns and lobbyists. |
