Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District

Kathy Wisnicki, a native New Yorker, received her Master's in Psychology from San Diego State University and went on to earn her Doctorate in Research Methods and Applied Statistics from the UCLA Graduate School of Education where she specialized in identifying risk factors that lead to negative outcomes for youth. After moving to Malibu in 1996 with her husband, Bruce, Kathy became an activist for youth with her involvement in education at both the school and the district level. Serving on the Executive Board at Point Dume Elementary School for 5 years, and currently Malibu High PTSA, she has held many positions including PTA President, Fundraising VP, and chair of the Measure S Parcel Tax campaign. Kathy is currently the Auditor for the SMMUSD PTA Council, a member of the Financial Oversight Committee for the district, a steering committee member for the Community for Excellent Public Schools and a member of the Executive Board of the Malibu Foundation for Youth and Families.

As the proud mother of two children who attend Malibu High Middle School, Jake 12, and Julia, 10, Kathy is a passionate, knowledgable and effective advocate for our public schools.
