  • Taught English and journalism at SMC for 31 years
  • Started the faculty's emergency student relief fund

  • Named Faculty Assn. of California Community Colleges' statewide member of the year in 1997.
  • Elected 2004-05 chairman of the board of the Pico Improvement Organization, a city-created business improvement district

Top Priorities if Elected
  • Make Santa Monica College better, not bigger, by focusing on instructional and counseling needs so more students will reach their educational goals
  • Restore and support vocational courses that put students in jobs and meet community needs
  • Seek to improve the faculty-staff/ administration relationship as well as provide good stewardship of funds
