Representing the VotersBy Veronica L. AlvarezCandidate for Councilmember; City of Alhambra; District 3 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My name is Veronica Alvarez and I want to represent you and your concerns on the Alhambra City Council. As an attorney, it is my job to represent people who are seeking justice within the legal system. Many who come to me seeking representation are new to this country or have very little understanding of how our system of justice works. I can empathize with these individuals because my family experience is similar. My Mexican parents also immigrated to this country and faced many discriminatory situations because of culture and language differences. Like many of you, they continued to work and persevere so that their children may have better opportunities. Over the years I have worked hard to prepare for a leadership role within Alhambra. I grew up in Alhambra and attended local schools, graduated from UCLA and Southwestern University School of Law. I believe that I am prepared to serve as your representative at City Hall because representing the interests of immigrant communities who feel left out of the governmental process is not new to me. I will be a tireless advocate for those who historically have had little input in the political process. My goal is to create more avenues for social, economic, and political development for our changing and diverse community. I am proud to have the respect and support of many local leaders, but I need your help. Your vote will help ensure that you are given respect and "face" at City Hall. Please join with me in my campaign to bring honest government and fiscal integrity to community service. I look forward to meeting and working with you. Thank you for your attention.
