To make essential major repairs and safety improvements to classrooms, some of which are over 75 years old, including electrical, waterlines, gas lines, rotting foundations, termite repair, replace portables older than 25 years, add cafeterias, computer labs, gymnasiums throughout the district, shall the Garvey Elementary School District issue $30 million of bonds at interest rates below the legal limit so long as spending is annually reviewed by the Citizens Oversight Committee?

Arguments For Measure Q
Garvey School District continues to provide the highest quality education for our children. However, many of our local schools and classrooms are old (some are 75 years and older) and in desperate need of major repair.

Your YES vote on Measure Q will provide the following:

  • Update electrical service and wiring for new technology

  • Replace deteriorating water service

  • Replace natural gas lines for the safety of students and staff

  • Replace rotting exterior wood for the safety of students and staff

  • Provide termite repair for safety of students and staff

  • Replace old portables some of which are 40 years old

  • Make schools accessible for the disabled to comply with Federal law

  • Build new gymnasiums to improve health and fitness

  • Add security fencing for safety and to prevent vandalism

Measure Q makes financial sense. As taxpayers, we can all agree on the importance of our children's education and the value of quality schools.

Measure Q will:

  • Make the district eligible for state matching funds.

  • Make repairs now before costs increase

  • Be used only to improve our children's schools + not to pay salaries or give raises

Help us move Garvey into the 21st Century! Vote YES on Measure Q and make an investment in our children and our community.
