Lou Rosas - Statement of Qualifications

By Lou Rosas

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Pittsburg

This information is provided by the candidate
Pittsburg needs experienced leadership, strong fiscal policy, clear expectations for delivery of services to residents, and a strong neighborhood preservation program.
The Best Way to Predict the Future, is to Create It Now. These are words that I have lived by all my life, what has driven my community involvement for over twenty years, and what now drives me to seek election to the Pittsburg City Council. People can decide to let things happen, or to make things happen. I am proud to say that I make things happen to make people's lives better.

Pittsburg is at a crossroads where we can either become recognized as the best place in California to live, or remain just another city in East County. To be sure, Pittsburg has the resources to be a place where the best jobs are, the best education is, and the quality of life is second to none.

What it needs is experienced leadership, strong fiscal policy, clear expectations for delivery of services to residents, and a strong neighborhood preservation program.

My past roles as Mayor, Chair of the Contra Costa Mayors Conference, Chair of CCCTA, Chair of the Contra Costa Economic Opportunity Council, Chair of the United Way Leadership Board of Contra Costa, President of the Youth Homes Board of Directors, and President of the Contra Costa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce demonstrate that many people believe in my leadership skills.

My 20-year management career provides me with the business background to ensure our city government runs efficiently and effectively. I will bring the same effort to Pittsburg that I brought to Concord which resulted in a 10 year balanced budget, pay for performance for management staff, and the doubling of services to residents. This will prevent the city of Pittsburg from relying on State Government and it's unreliable budget process.

I respectively ask for your vote on November 2nd and your help in creating Pittsburg's future.
