Dear Friends:

These are difficult times. Cities, countries and school districts all over California are suffering significant budget shortfalls.

The State Legislature continues raiding our local property tax money to cover their state budget deficits, while the demand for police, fire, senior services, and other important local programs continues skyrocketing.

Let me tell you why I'm running for City Council. It may sound a bit old fashioned, but to put it simply, I love Richmond.

This city has been my home since I was 4 years old. I went to school here, raised my family here, and plan to live here the rest of my life.

And like you, I want to help make Richmond a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

I am running for City Council to implement reforms to help turn Richmond around and get us headed in the right direction.

That's why I'm running...and that's why I respectfully ask for your vote for City Council on Tuesday, November 2nd

Thanks for your consideration. I would be honored to have your support.

Nathaniel "Nat" Bates
