Support Steve Goodman For LARPD BoardBy Steve GoodmanCandidate for Member, Board of Directors; Livermore Area Recreation and Park District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I believe that my experience in the field of parks and recreation, my knowledge of LARPD as an employee for 17 years, and the fact that I have grown up here and been a part of the community for over 46 years will allow me to be an effective member of the LARPD board. I hope you agree and that you will support me in the upcoming election on November 2.LARPD is facing significant financial challenges in the years ahead. Elimination of programs, staff layoffs, and reduced levels of service are just a few of the recent developments that have taken place. I believe that my experience in the field of parks and recreation, my first-hand knowledge of LARPD, and the fact that I have been a part of this community for over forty-six years all will allow me to be an effective member of the LARPD board. I hope that you agree and that you will support me in the upcoming election. As I said, I have lived in Livermore for more than forty-six years. I grew up here, attended school here, from elementary through high school, and have raised my family here in Livermore. I have as BS degree in Recreation Administration from Cal State Hayward and have worked full time in the public recreation field for over twenty-six years, seventeen of those years with LARPD. I have been active in the community outside of my job in the following areas: as a Sunday school teacher and special events coordinator for my church; as a CYO basketball coach; as a volunteer at the LARPD Friendship Center; as a volunteer at the local high school softball tournament; as an announcer at the local high school basketball games; as a member of the LHS grad night committee; as a volunteer for an at-risk youth summer program sponsored by the City, LVJUSD, and LARPD; as a participant in the Almond School Read-A-Thon; and as a volunteer for the Wine and Honey Festival. While employed with LARPD, I worked very closely with school district and city staff, as well as with community group leaders and local sports organizations. I believe that the relationships I have established with these individuals over the years will be invaluable to me if I am elected as a member of the board. I love Livermore and I am passionate about its residents and their parks and leisure activities. I believe that my knowledge of public parks and recreation, of Livermore, and of LARPD would make me an effective board member. I humbly ask for your support in the election on November 2 for a position on the LARPD Board of Directors Thank you. |
