State Representative Wayne Coates January 2, 2001 to December 31, 2002 House Standing Committees · Economic Development & Small Business · Housing & Urban Revitalization Subcommittee · Local Government and Townships · Ways and Means Committees · Financial Institutions Appointments · The Physician Loan Repayment Advisory Board Mayor of the City of Forest Park from December 4, 1995 through December 1, 1999 · Officiated over traffic and criminal misdemeanor cases in Forest Park Mayor's Court. · Introduced legislation to have criminals reimburse the city for the cost of their incarceration. · Adopted an investment policy for city funds that increased the city's investment revenue. · Impaneled a Mayor's Task Force on Tax Review, that produced sweeping "citizen friendly" changes to Forest Park's tax code giving residents a `"Taxpayer's Bill of Rights". · Worked to bring the "Metro Park and Ride" bus service to Forest Park. · Served on the Hamilton County Development Company's Tax Incentive Review Council, and voted to reduce abatements to those businesses that did not live up to their commitments. · Member of the Ohio Mayor's Association · Member of the Ohio Municipal League · Legislative Chairman, and Executive Committee of the Hamilton County Municipal League. · Trustee, Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Government, "Transportation Enhancement Policy Task Force" on bikeways, historical preservation, and beautification projects. · Trustee, Executive Committee member, Finance Chairman, and Facilities Chairman of the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency and was instrumental in securing sites and funding for new "Theodore Berry Head Start" facility. · Lead spokesman, of multi-jurisdictional collaboration of Hamilton County, Springfield Township, Colerain Township and Forest Park to fund the engineering cost of the Hamilton Avenue Widening Project. Served on Forest Park City Council 1989 + 1999 · Chairman of the Public Improvements and Facilities Committee during the initial stages of the municipal building expansion project. · Chairman of the Community Development Committee, authored Forest Park's Recycling Ordinance that has kept recyclable trash out of landfills, introduced the Christmas tree roundup that recycles trees to mulch, and pushed for "citizen friendly" changes in housing code enforcement. · Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, consolidated city debt that reduced interest expense to the city. · Member Forest Park's Planning Commission that reviewed development plans, and worked to preserve the quality of life in Forest Park's residential community. · Member Cincinnati-Hamilton County Housing Resource Board that reviewed marketing efforts to minorities by real estate professionals. · Charter member of the Forest Park Historical Society. · Chairman of the Forest Park Beautification and Conservation Commission initiating the city's urban forestry program, and instrumental in Forest Park being named a "Tree City USA". · Member of the Forest Park Economic Development Commission, and encouraged business development and the expansion of employment opportunities to area residents, and worked on efforts to enhance the city's image.
