Cynthia Thurber moved to Santa Barbara in 1996, married David K. Thurber, Esq. in 1997, and immediately became involved in volunteerism in Santa Barbara. When GW Bush was "not" elected to become president, Ms. Thurber joined the Board of Democratic Women of SB, and later was voted to an open seat on the SB County Democratic Central Committee. Ms. Thurber has been Corresponding Secretary since being on SBCDCC. Ms. Thurber has worked for many candidates including Babatunde Folayemi who successfully won his seat on the SB City Council in 2001, and who was unsuccessful in his bid to keep his seat in 2003. Ms. Thurber has helped the candidacies of Supervisor Gail Marshall, Mayor Marty Blum, Councilwoman Iya Falcone, 35th Assembly Candidate Pedro Nava, 3rd District Supervisorial Candidate John Buttny, and others. Ms. Thurber is committed to keeping our local politics in a Democratic majority and is doing as much as possible in ridding the United States and the World of George W. Bush and his flawed administration. Ms. Thurber's husband is an practicing attorney in Santa Barbara and is President of SB Women Lawyer's, and Exective Board President of SB Legal Aid Foundation. |
