EDUCATION: I grew up in Southern California and earned a Bachelors Degree with honors at Stanford University and a Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Minnesota. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: I worked as a Policy Analyst for the Minnesota House of Representatives Research Department and specialized in agricultural policy, rural economic development, energy conservation and renewable energy, and public utility regulation. I have extensive experience in state and local government, planning and zoning, and program budgeting and evaluation. I was the Director of Community Energy Programs for the State of Minnesota and helped cities and counties design and deliver energy conservations programs to families and small businesses. I served as Executive Director of the Minnesota Public Interest Research Group, a state-wide advocacy organization successfully working for environmental and consumer protection. I am Vice President of the Northcountry Cooperative Development Fund, a member-owned cooperative providing lending to cooperative businesses and coop home purchasers in a ten state area. I am President of the Northcountry Cooperative Federal Credit Union, a credit union chartered to assist its members purchase cooperative housing. VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE: I serve on the Board of Catholic Charities of Santa Barbara. |
