All you ever wanted to know about the Democratic County Central Committee (but weren't aware who to ask)
- What are you running for?
The Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee is an unpaid, elected partisan office that appears on the Democratic Party's ballot during the even-numbered year's California Primary. Democratic voters in each assembly district in Los Angeles County may vote for up to seven members; the top seven vote getters after the single round of balloting are deemed elected. My home district is the 48th Assembly District.
- Where is the 48th Assembly District?
The district is located in the heart of Los Angeles County, CA, bounded roughly on the north by Beverly Boulevard, south by El Segundo Boulevard, east by the 110 freeway, and west by Arlington Avenue.
You must be a registered Democrat and resident in the 48th Assembly District to be eligible.
- Do I need to be a registered Democrat to vote for you?
Yes. Decline-to-state voters casting ballots in the Democratic Primary will see my name on the ballot, but are not eligible to have their votes counted for this contest. Members of other parties will have differing partisan offices that they may be able to vote for.
- What does the Democratic County Central Committee do?
We represent Los Angeles County's more than 2 million Democrats in the largest county organization of its kind anywhere in the country. As the governing body of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, we do local endorsements, state delegate selection, and other party-building activities that help support Democratic candidates and issues.
- I read the papers; why have I never heard of this?
We are the true grassroots foundations of the Democratic Party and our work is not glamorous. We register voters, pass non-binding resolutions, and do the day-to-day work of the Party between elections. Several hundred candidates will be elected by just the Democratic Party, so we may not necessarily be household names.
- How can I help you get elected?
-Contribute: I am organized as a FPPC Recipient Committee, so I can accept financial campaign contributions to support my election efforts
-Endorse: Help me get the support of your organization or favorite elected official; advise me of who to get in contact with and lobby on my behalf
-Get Out the Vote: Cast your ballot for me and get your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to do the same
