14 years of AccomplishmentBy Richard C. "Dick" KentCandidate for Trustee; Township of Sycamore | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
These are just some of the more important highlights of my 14 year career as a Trustee for Sycamore Township"More In Sycamore" I am so gratified to have served the residents of Sycamore Township these past 14 years # we have accomplished so much and never has the quality of life been greater. Nearly every time I am out in the community, I receive compliments from the residents & business people. What am I most proud of? We now have one of the finest Fire and EMS Departments in the State of Ohio. Started in 1995, our 2 stations provide 24/7 service with full time Fire Fighters & Paramedics # all with NO tax increase to the residents since 1994. In a close 2nd place, Sycamore Township now has zoning in it's own control. In 2000, the voters approved "local zoning" which includes the zoning appeal board. Since there is very little land left for development in Sycamore Township, being able to control land uses and zone changes with decisions made by Township residents is very essential and has proven very beneficial in recent zoning cases. Our residential neighborhoods are strong and property values continue to increase. In the south area, the residents are seeing great changes in our central business district. The Montgomery Road widening project is underway and signs of construction are evident. We have worked closely with the owners of the Kenwood Towne Center and Sycamore Plaza to further strengthen their marketplace in the retail environment. A healthy and prosperous business district greatly compliments the surrounding residential areas. Using many planning tools, the Township has prevented erosion of our neighborhoods while providing the growth necessary for our businesses. With NO EARNINGS TAX, Sycamore Township continues to be of intense interest to many developers. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office provides Sycamore Township excellent police service. With no less than 3 cars on duty every shift, our residents and businesses are well protected. And you will never see a "Sycamore" car running radar on the Interstate. The Trustees want Sycamore cars to be in the residential areas on a regular basis. Finally, our parks program is moving solidly ahead. The Township just completed the purchase of the 16 acres at Fields Ertle & School Roads to be used as a Nature Preserve. We are currently seeking state grants to improve this site. Also, the jogging/walking track at North Sycamore Park is being expanded to 1 mile. A new entrance to Bechtold Park is presently being built to improve parking and traffic flow. We have also hired a consultant to do a complete master plan for Bechtold Park. We are excited about the many improvements and changes that will be forthcoming. Your government in Sycamore Township is very efficient. Our mission statement "There's More In Sycamore" is lived and worked each day. I will appreciate your vote to keep me # Dick Kent # your Trustee in Sycamore Township. |
