1. How would you implement your top priority?
|
Answer from Tony Upton:
We have hired a consultant to work with T.S. staff, County Engineer, and Ohio Dept. of Transportation (ODOT) to implement recommendation of 2 consultants concerning Traffic Problems in Green T.S.
Answer from Bob T. Luckey, Jr.:
Upon taking office I will begin the process to bring zoning under the township. We have only one Trustee in favor of this right now. Having me on the board will ensure that the residents of Green Township will have the second vote needed to implement this important part of our future. I would also implement certain county tools that will allow the township to protect our remaining ridges and hillsides from excessive development. While many residents have expressed concern with township zoning this concern can be tempered with resident involvement.
Answer from Ken Brodbeck:
One possibility would be to control zoning to ensure the residents that their neighborhoods will not be overdeveloped. I believe a Smart Growth Plan is essntial to the township in order to preserve the natural characteristics. Also,we should insist that developers have some responsibility with road improvements.
2. Numerous important issues including transportation, land use planning, housing and economic development for the Greater Hamilton County regions are being deliberated by OKI's Land Use Commission and Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and Planning Partnership COMPASS; how engaged should local government be in these planning activities? If elected, how would you participate in these planning activities?
|
Answer from Tony Upton:
The township has & will continue to participate. In addition, we have adopted policies & procedures to address these issues on a local basis.
Answer from Bob T. Luckey, Jr.:
Our township need to be involved in all levels of planning activities. Both our Director of Economic Development and Public Works director will attend the appropriate meetings. As an elected township offical we must participate and share the cost of the planning process provided that cost is reasonable. The township must take control of its future. Allowing outside officals to make decisions for the residents of Green Township without township involvement is not in our residents best interest.
Answer from Ken Brodbeck:
Local government should be fully engaged in these planning activities and the county should respect recommendations made by the trustees who, after all, represent the residents of the township.
3. Ohio Department of Natural Resources in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Recycling Coalition conducted a state-specific study and found recycling businesses in Ohio generated $650.6 million dollars in state government revenue. If elected how would you promote recycling and support recycling programs currently in place in your community to reduce solid waste generation?
|
Answer from Ken Brodbeck:
Currently recycling is only available through Rumpke as a paid service, except for yard waste disposal, which is provided by the county. The township, in conjunction with the county and or the state, should establish recycling centers conveniently located throughout the township.
Answer from Tony Upton:
Continue to support yard waste recycling program presently in place. We will also have a hazardous waste materials clean up doing in G.T. We emphasize our recycling program in our annual newsletter.
Answer from Bob T. Luckey, Jr.:
Residents of Green Township currently use the recycling services of Rumpke. This is a great idea. It gives the residents the opportunity to help save our presious resources.
I would favor the township locateing a recycling container at its administrative complex. This would accomplish two goals. First, it would give our residents another opportunity to recycle. Secondly, the township would benefit by receiving the monies that Rumpke currently recives for recycling. We could put this money to use in acquiring land for parks and open space.
