Ballot StatementBy Lorraine RumleyCandidate for Board Member; Sequoia Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Lorraine Rumley Age 46 Occupation: Incumbent/Business Manager/District Parent When I was elected four years ago, I promised to restore public confidence in our high schools, connect the school district to the community and provide students and parents with a variety of educational choices. The number of students choosing to attend our high schools has increased due to strong leadership at each school and better communication with parents. We provide a variety of programs to meet the needs of our diverse students. Achievement has increased; more students are graduating and attending college. Community confidence has allowed us to pass an $88 million bond for classroom and facility improvements. We've strengthened communication and built trust with our elementary school districts so they can better prepare their students for success in high school. We've established partnerships with businesses and community organizations bringing additional resources to support our students. During my term on the Sequoia Union High School District Board, I served as President for two years. I have two children; my oldest attends Sequoia High School. Today's economy brings uncertainty to the future of public education. Experienced and strong leadership is crucial. Your vote will ensure our children continue to have the best educational options for success in college and career. More information: http://www.smartvoter.org |
