East Side Union High School District

From 1995 to 1998 I adopted a high school accounting program at Overfelt High School. We started with 18 sophomores and provided e-mail buddies and mentors for each student. We had someone go talk to each class every three weeks to talk about different careers in finance. They then would spend a day shadowing with their mentor. We were able to graduate 17 of the students. Without this program at least five students would have dropped out of high school. They were the first in their entire family to graduate from high school.
