PUBLIC SAFETY Public safety is my number one concern in Riverside. When I am elected to City Council, I will advocate for more Police Officers and Firemen to assure safety on our streets for our children. I feel we have the finest Police Departments in California. Our officers deserve adequate pay. I will fight to bring the pay scale up to what it should be by the size of our city, as they put their lives on the line everyday to serve and protect us, and I feel we need more man power on our streets. In the growing times of a recession, crime is on the upward trend, so we need more officers for both their safety as well as ours. I would like to see more officers on our streets within the next two years, and to set up more community panels to bring law enforcement and the community together in understanding each others needs.

CITY SPENDING I feel for too many years the city has placed our tax dollars inappropriately into the private sector. Such as the auto pods at the Auto Center, University Village parking structure and to include the $475,000.00 for the repair of the City Hall fountain. I do feel though that with the new council members, Ed Adkison, Frank Schiavone and Nancy Hart that spending is taking a new shape in benefiting the city as a whole.

HOMELESS & SUBSTANCE ABUSE The homeless and substance abuse problems in the city of Riverside is increasing. We need to deal with the problems straight up, not by passing new city ordinances to shuffle them around. As your councilman, I will seek out Federal Grants to assist the homeless and chemically dependent people so that we can fix the problems and not just the symptoms.

LOOKING TO OUR FUTURE My goals for the next four years include strengthening our economy and attracting additional high-paying jobs. To make Riverside a center for the "New Economy." I am committed to improving our parks, libraries, recreation and city services so our neighborhoods are the best, most livable possible. I am also dedicated to making Riverside K-12 schools the best in the region.

AS YOUR COUNCILMAN I will do my best to serve the people in Ward 1. I want our children to have a peace of mind on our streets, to go to school without fear, to have a chance to grow with love for their fellow man, to be a community, to fight drugs and gangs, to take away the need to withdraw from reality. Send me to City Hall and I will fight for the better of our community.
