- We must teach students the fundamental skills necessary to succeed. Kids must learn how to learn and master technology to succeed in the job market. I favor programs that would teach the non-college bound kids a trade to enter the job market.
- I believe all children can learn to succeed. They must have equal access to a high-quality education program that challenges them to succeed. Every student must be prepared to work immediately after graduation or for a higher education, and must be provided with the skills to be a lifelong learner and an effective, contributing member of society.
- Public schools are accountable to the local community. They must be responsive to the needs, desires, and concerns of local families and acknowledge the importance of parental involvement in the education of their children.
- Students have the right to attend schools that are safe and free from violence. Children must be provided with a safe physical environment that enhances learning.
- We must use all of our resources efficiently to make sure our students are successful.
- By most measures, student performance has not improved during the past three decades. At best, it has remained flat. They must be responsive to the needs, desires, and concerns of local families and acknowledge the importance of parental involvement in the education of their children. At worst, it has fallen dramatically, as SAT scores indicate.
