I am seeking reelection because I bring an important perspective to the board. My experience as a teacher allows me to share with my fellow board members the impact our decisions and policies will have on the classroom, our students, and our staff.

If I am reelected my top priority is to be an excellent board member. I will continue to serve as a liaison between the school and the community, helping each to better understand the other. I will continue to inform and educate myself in order to make the difficult but necessary decisions that impact our children. And I will continue to work with the board, the administration, the staff, and the community to seek better ways to provide our kids with the education they deserve.

Our school district, like our children, is a growing entity. Each day brings new challenges to meet. Although we are always responsible for fiscal management, our current board members must use extra care to pilot our course safely through the state budget crisis. Even though this crisis has forced us to make program reductions, we must attain even greater academic gains with fewer resources. We will continue to find new ways to help our students achieve. Although it was an effective intervention program, the funding for our extended day program has diminished. We consider this program to be vital to our students' success and therefore a priority.

Another important task is to respond to anticipated community growth, building where necessary. We must not, however, waste our precious resources by building unwisely. Diligent oversight and the proceeds from our successful bond campaign, Measure E, will provide our students with an exemplary new middle school. The new school, like all our existing sites, must provide a safe school environment. These complicated tasks are not for the inexperienced.

I have the experience necessary to perform this challenging job responsibly. North County has undergone significant changes recently. We have a new superintendent and a new assistant superintendent for human resources. The high school has a new principal. Our schools are being renovated with the proceeds from Measure E. While these have all been positive changes, it is now time for stability. North County families deserve to reap the rewards that your incumbent board has been working to achieve. North County families deserve the benefits of experienced leadership.

Please vote to reelect me on November 4.
