Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Steve McShane

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Hartnell Community College District; Trustee Area 1

This information is provided by the candidate

My name is Steve McShane and I would appreciate your vote for Hartnell Trustee. I currently serve as a Senior Field Representative for State Senator Bruce McPherson responsible for his Salinas District Office.

My top three priorities for the college are as follows:

"h Accountability: We need a college that is run efficiently and with great attention to every dime of taxpayer money spent.

"h Community Ties: We need a college that is responsive to community needs through partnerships with business, non-profits and government.

"h Attention: Hartnell educates more college students than any other institution in Monterey County. At the same time, the college gets the least amount of support per student. We need greater state, local, federal and private funding.

My educational career includes classes at four community colleges. I received my bachelor degree from Cal Poly, SLO and my MBA from Santa Clara University. I also served three years on the California Postsecondary Education Commission and have spent almost ten years working in higher education policy and advancement.

As your trustee, I can promise you a great deal of dedication, integrity and accessibility. Please contact me with any questions.

I would be honored to have your vote.
