Turning our Vision into a Reality

During my 15 years of service as your City Council Member I have worked for open, accountable and effective government. Together, we shared a common vision of a better Emeryville, one in which aging, abandoned factories, empty warehouses, toxic brownfields and a decaying infrastructure are replaced with new businesses, homes, retail opportunities, and refurbished streets, sewers, and street lights.

We have shared a vision of a city that fosters a collaborative relationship with the business community that facilitates the creation of jobs and generates the necessary revenue to fund critical city services and balance the budget. We have shared a vision that we can live in safety, admire the beauty of a protected shoreline, enjoy new parks, and have quality schools available to our children.

I am proud of the enormous progress we have made together. But there is much more work to be done.

We must improve our already strong and diverse tax base, protect and enhance our natural environment, invest in education, expand public transportation choices, and continue to replace and renovate toxic land, empty deteriorating factories, and old warehouses.

Emeryville may have once been a worn down industrial city, but today it is rapidly becoming a thriving, vibrant community based on solid environmental and economic principles.

Let's finish what we started. I want to work with you to make our vision a reality.
