Board members must accept responsibility for their actions as individuals on the board and as a Board.
Board members can fall into a trap of denying knowledge of serious situations once they become public. Board members must accept the credit for all things good or bad that develop within the school district. The budget is an example of accepting responsibility. Proper questions need to be asked before critical decisions are made. Inviting greater public attention and participation in open Board meetings would be a positive step in closing a credibility gap.
