Ohio JobsBy Arnold D. EngelCandidate for State Representative; Ohio State General Assembly; District 54 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We need to work on lowering the unemployment rate in Ohio and bring more skilled, living wage jobs to our State.According to the US Department of Labor, the number of people employed in Ohio has increased from 5,455,622 in 1999 to 5,576,494 in July. The unemployment rate, however, tells us the true story. In May 1998, Ohio's unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent. This was the first time the rate had dropped below 4 percent since 1974. The unemployment rate was 4.2 percent January, 1999, and in July it was 5.7 percent. |
