Sonoma County, CA | November 5, 2002 Election |
Candidate StatementBy Sandra L. DobbinsCandidate for Board Member; Windsor Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My qualifications as presented in the Voter's PamphletMy dreams for this District are far-reaching, but my understanding of its financial condition is down-to-earth. Careful management is a must, if only to maintain the District's current position. We need practical, frugal guidance to provide resources for our many under-funded needs, and to implement the many outstanding goals that are as yet unrealized. At home, I have two spectacular young daughters. My husband, and partner for over 20 years, teaches high school, and we've lived in this community for over 13 years. I'm a full-time, full charge bookkeeper and am additionally responsible for all construction matters, including bids and contract issuance. I've served my children's schools in many ways. I am a founding member of Windsor Unified School District's Budget Advisory Committee; I've served on the site council and recent Superintendent Search Committee. I'm humbled, yet proud to say that in July, I was appointed as the Interim Member to the Board of Trustees. Today's public school system requires care and nurturing. Due to the knowledge I have of the District's current challenges, having served in a broad spectrum of ways, I believe I can help make the schools a better place for our children. They are the true bottom line. |
