- The Duke Project
-
I endorse the Duke Project. If there wasn't a plant here, it would be a different question entirely. But there it is. Duke is willing to remove the existing plant, and after the new plant has ended it's useful life, they will remove it too. Finally, Morro Bay wouldn't have a power plant! What a wonderful legacy to leave our future generations.
- Achieving our "really-wants"
-
Morro Bay General Fund Revenues have more than doubled in the last 4 years, from $6.2 million to $13.7 million for 01/02. That comes to $1324 per capita, 16% over the next highest city in SLO Co., Pismo Beach. Atascadero gets by with $428 per capita. I would utilize my years of project management to:
1. Put our "really-wants" to the front
2. Focus our Budget and resources to achieve them
3. Provide persistent and hard-nosed follow-up
- Our streets and sidewalks
-
We have a good start on streets, 11 miles paved this year our of the 50 miles total. We need focus on this to accomplish paving ALL our streets and getting to a 5 year routine cycle. We need an Embarcadero/Downtown sidewalk plan, and a program to make it happen. The 4 recent sidewalk modifications to the Embarcadero has been finally accomplished after much prodding. A good sidewalk system is a must for residents/visitors and helps take the pressure off parking.
