Dave's Vision for San Luis Obispo includes adequate housing, ample and affordable water supply, and the preservation of our small-town quality of life.1. Water supplies ample and reliable for SLO needs. 2. An adequate supply of housing which is affordable by our children. 3. Completion of Regional Shopping facilities in the Dalidio and Froom Ranch areas, so as to provide for the needs of our residents. 4. Annexation and improvement of the Airport and Margarita areas, providing a mixture of housing, high-tech industrial, and recreation facilities. 5. Completion of a Greenbelt on the hills surrounding the city, including hiking trails, rest-stops, and picnic areas. 6. Arterial streets at the edges of the city have been extended, interconnected and widened, allowing easy access to the freeway, a convenient route for through traffic to bypass downtown, and relief of traffic congestion. 7. A majority of automobiles within our city are powered by alternative fuels, such as natural gas, propane, solar, or electricity. 8. Improved bus service, allowing every area of the city to be served at no greater than 1/2 hour intervals. 9. Sensitively improved creeks, which will protect the community from flooding while providing an attractive creek habitat. 10. Downtown is served by a series of parking structures, which will allow visitors to park at the edge of downtown and walk in to the core. 11. City Hall, the Courthouse, Library, Museum, Art Center, Little Theater, and Children's Museum have all been upgraded, expanded, or built anew. 12. Mission Plaza has been extended and improved. 13. Mission style sidewalks have been installed throughout downtown, and all downtown street furniture has been upgraded in an attractive manner, interspersed with artwork. |
