Spend smart, spend less. Invest wisely in clean water, fire, aquifer & bay protection. Spend the rest on the community. Help support the cultural, recreation, and learning needs of all the age groups here.
I believe the current board has made varying degrees of unneeded expenditure and would like to see better responsibility with taxpayer monies. We don't need so many $6 sewer brochures or $3 CSD newsletters (that are too often more self-promoting than informative). We have some very large financial challenges coming upon us (sewer, waterpipes, & drainage plan). It's time to get objective and make every dollar count.

I'd like to see a little more of the budget go towards some community benefit, such as partially funding the Sunnyside Education, Recreation, and Culture Center or helping the library with mitigation costs, or setting up a 'Beautify Los Osos' club fund to help the less able, make needed improvements on their 'eyesore' homes, or helping fund the present Community Center even. And... spending money looking at viable, more affordable options rather than defending a grandious lemon. It'd be good to have a smart shopper (or two or three) on board when this election is over.

With better budgeting and smart shopping, I'll bet we could have a great wastewater system, repaired water pipes and tanks (so we have fire hydrant pressure again), a well designed drainage plan, AND some money to help fund the recreation, culture, education, and vitality of our community.

Oh. And I don't feel that street lights and sidewalks are 'necessary' improvements. I'd rather see safety and basic quality of life (for everyone) be the CSD's agenda. Many of us came here to get away from concrete and light pollution. That's what makes this town different & special! Drive slower, drive less. Carry a flashlight if the stars aren't out.
