The original plan for Batwood Park was laid out by a L.A. Developer named Mr.Otto. That is the present plan with a few additions like 6 acre community center.
From First to South Bay Blvd. there are no parks. An elementary school in the middle and an ESHA(The Elvin Forrest) to the North with only a boardwalk. There are no pedestrian paths to pass through on foot. People share the road with cars to get around. We could have pathways on dirt street used for wetlands and drainage(Paso Robles) and animals could make there way through the community, we need to include them.
A major bike/walk/jog path connecting all neighborhoods to a community park by 80 acres on Clark Valley road. With resting benches or Fartlek exercise stations along the way. (they are cheap and easy to build). The park will have 8 to 10 two acre play fields, aqua park for swimming, fishing, boating and bird watching and what people in other parts of the county do when they go to their parks.
Federal guidelines recommend about 120 acres for a community this size. And we have about six.
Another idea called "Sunnyside Up" can be seen on http://www.cclososos.com utilises a closed elementary school for many benificial uses to culturally enrich us all. Some are medical facility, library, continuing education classes, the arts, Fast Start, skateboarding park, movie theatre and much, much more. Check it out.
We have lost a boat ramp on First street and need too replace that loss for coastal access for sailing, kayaking, canoeing and rowing.
In addition we need neighborhood pocket parks scattered throughout town. Set aside some lots for that purpose. Maybe a badminton court or a handball court here and there. Let's make the plan for community recreation with a recreation professional and seek grants and start funds.
These are attainable goals and part of our communities values.
