A Commitment to Continue to Work to Attract Jobs to Our CommunityBy J. Mike ArrambideCandidate for Councilmember; City of Atascadero | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Affordable housing, and a viable downtown combine to attract the jobs Atascadero needs.Atascadero is one of the best-kept secrets on California's Central Coast. Our rolling oak-covered hills, great schools, warm days and cool evenings make our community high on the list when it comes to relocating a business. So what keeps us from being selected by the high-tech companies with head of household jobs that are at the top of our list? The lack of affordable housing, coupled with a downtown in the early stages of redevelopment are the major barriers. I have been a strong advocate of affordable housing and the redevelopment of our downtown during my four years on our City Council. Virtually our entire community supports the redevelopment of our downtown. Unfortunately, developing an inventory of affordable housing is not as popular. I will continue to advocate the development of our downtown businesses, coupled with providing affordable places for our workforce to live. I will continue to support the development of an Economic Development Plan for our community that can be used to attract the industry and businesses we want. |
