I was raised in Oak Park, Illinois. I worked my way through the University of Wisconsin, Madison and graduated with a BA in Spanish in 1975. I moved to California in 1977 and by 1980 had started Medical Communications, a new, medical-only answering service. After selling my business, I joined ALDON Computer Group in Oakland. They had two other employees and 25 customers when I began running their office; three years later I switched to marketing their techincal software. When I left to marry, they had more than 500 customers and 25 employees. At the Recreation & Park District I have served in the following capacities: member, Program Committee (2000 and 2001); Secretary, Maintenance Committee (2001-our proposals have saved the District over $20,000 so far); member, Facilities Committee (2001); volunteer office assistant to General Manager, Barbara Day, working on the Policy Manual (2002); and more. I serve my community in general in these additional ways: classroom volunteer at Redwood Elementary since 1998; member, Citizens Against Redevelopment. |
