The Port District needs to maximize revenue from its commercial property.
The Port District receives no tax revenue and is supported by user fees and commercial property rental in the harbor. The Port District owns ocean-front land that has considerable value and is returning a small amount of revenue because of long-term land leases. My position is that long-term leasing of valuable public land is not in the best financial interest of the Port District. I do not support the renewal of any land leases in the harbor. Rather, the Port District should manage all the commercial property in the harbor so that it can remain fiscally sound.
