Fiscal Accountability - We must eliminate waste in City government while making Milpitas officials more accountable. We can no longer accept the type of decision making that has lead to the cost overruns of over 50% for the Milpitas City Hall.

Transportation - One of the major problems facing Milpitas is traffic. Through active involvement in the Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Corridor Community Working Group, Armando Gomez has worked towards the implementation of smart transportation strategies. We must continue the fight for funding to ensure local transportation projects are approved and completed to move people through Milpitas quicker and reduce the number of vehicles on our streets.

Education - Our kids deserve the best quality education we can provide. Armando Gomez attended Milpitas Schools. As parents, Armando and his wife, Bernadette, have two children entering the public school system. Armando understands the need to continue to forge City/School partnerships to help our schools.

Library - As a Library Commissioner and patron of the library Armando and his family have shared the same experiences you have - long waits at the checkout line, checked out materials, limited seating, crowded storytimes, and no parking. Milpitas voters passed a hotel tax increase to partially fund construction of a new library. As councilmember, Armando will push to construct a our new library and work to ensure that we have a library that is delivered on time and within budget.

Public Safety - Each time something goes wrong in our City, our public safety officers boldly run into a dangerous scene risking their own lives to keep our City safe. We must ensure that our officers have state of the art equipment and the training facilities to do their jobs. Because it's too expensive for our officers to live in the area they defend, we must also make sure we provide affordable housing opportunities in Milpitas.

Affordable Housing - There are thousands of people (including teachers, public safety officers, and people just like you and me) who work in Milpitas but just can't afford to live here, so what they end up doing is living farther and farther away where the cost of housing is cheaper. Even though they work here they end up spending their money in the area they live which is hurting our local economy. We must continue to explore new housing opportunies along transit corridors. This will provide greater housing opportunities while protecting our open space
