I am a long-time high school district parent of three children who have attended the public schools at all levels in Huntington Beach. I have been involved for over 17 years as a PTA leader and school volunteer. I am, with my husband of 25 years, a local business owner/Chamber of Commerce member, and have experience as a part-time teacher in a local elementary district, as well as through HBUHSD in the adult education school. I also taught adult classes through Coastline Community College before my third child was born. Holding positions of president and other offices in all levels of PTA, I have planned and chaired innumerable meetings, organized budgets and taught workshops. I have also held positions of responsibility in other non-profit groups such as the American Artists of Chinese Brush Painting and the HBHS Band Boosters. I have taken, as well as taught, conferences in legislation and parliamentary procedure and am a member of the American Association of University Women. Because of my teaching experience on many school campuses and my volunteer work in the organized parent groups as well as on school site councils, site and district strategic planning committees, and community advisory committees, I am well known by parents and administrators at all of our district schools, and by many of the teachers and District Administrators and current board members. |
