Brief Comments from Official Voter pamphletSTATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR DIRECTOR Marin Healthcare District
Lawrence H. Arnstein, M.D.
Currently, as District Board chairman, I have made the highest quality patient care my first priority. If re-elected, I will continue to strive for this by holding private management accountable for its wasteful practices. The wearing of a white coat ought to guarantee the patient the fruits of professional education, experience and skills. Corporate medicine has drastically reduced Registered Nurses' crucial bedside time. Our urgent efforts to correct hospital staffing deficiencies are ongoing. Revenue produced by the current lease is far below market comparisons: Any solution to our lease problems must include equitable rent from our tenant, Sutter Corporation. At our publicly owned Marin General Hospital, the current Board majority is dedicated to the restoration of medical quality assurance, and to satisfying patients. Your Board's efforts have already achieved better Trauma and Emergency Care -- and, soon, a Stroke Center. We are working hard to improve Psychiatric and Neurosurgery coverage: district law requires no less. To finish these tasks, I need your vote. |
