Vote for Jeff to make it happen!
Dear Friend,
- Does it seem to you that traffic and parking in Monterey just keep getting worse?
- Have you wondered what we can do to help our local businesses in this tough economy?
- Have you ever felt that City zoning and water rules are not always applied fairly?
- Do you think it is fair that our police and firefighters can't negotiate for wages and benefits - with the opportunity for independent arbitration?
- Did you know that a proposal for a $16 million `Public Service Center' is moving ahead - taking funds from needed projects such as helping our schools and maintaining infrastructure?
Well, I too am concerned about the direction in which our City seems to be drifting. As a member of the Old Town Neighborhood Association (Vice-President 1998-2002), I led efforts to draft the Old Town Neighborhood Area Plan and the OTN Survey - experiences that made me keenly aware of residents' concerns. And now, with friends' encouragement, I am running for election to our City Council so that I can make a difference.
What will I do differently if you choose me to represent you? To start, I will ask for your ideas and suggestions. And I will do my very best to
- Protect our community atmosphere - and Monterey's special character
- Get traffic moving again - and out of our neighborhoods
- Support better working conditions and compensation for our City employees
- Rethink the `Public Service Center'. We need to take a fresh look at City priorities and invest our resources more wisely in this challenging economy
- Promote local business & arts communities & restore the historic State Theater
I am asking that you give me an opportunity to work hard to keep Monterey a wonderful place to raise a family, build a business & enjoy our stunning natural beauty & historic treasures. If elected, I promise to limit myself to two terms in office.
Sincerely,
Jeff Haferman
