Leadership with a Vision for Salinas

I have a vision for what Salinas can be and I have been and am willing to continue to work to make the vision a reality
I love Salinas. I have chosen Salinas as the community to raise my children, start a business and commit my time as a volunteer. I have coached small children, I have volunteered to help children learn about the law and government, I have participated in community clean ups, I have delivered flowers to elderly mothers on Mother's Day, I have volunteered at Dorothy's Kitchen,I have read to children and encouraged them to learn to read. I have served you as a Councilmember and Mayor for eleven years. I do this because there is no other community that I would rather be in. I believe in Salinas and I have a vision of a strong, diverse and economically sound community that cares about all of its residents.

During my time on the Council I have helped to ensure that the City has a balanced budget. We have adopted a conservative financial approach and yet we have been able to add additional police officers, resurface our streets, repairing potholes and sidewalks and city buildings. We built a much needed new firestation in northeast Salinas, improved the golf courses and brought new businesses into Oldtown.

We have developed partnerships with the non-profit and business community to improve the Rodeo grounds, build a new softball complex, a soccer complex, the now famous National Steinbeck Center, the Boys and Girls Club, and many more. On the drawing board are a new Municipal Pool project, a new hotel and condominium project, a senior center project and a new much needed police facility.

It takes energy, passion and compassion to be an effective leader. I have worked for you for many years and I would like to continue serving as your mayor. Please join me in making Salinas the best that it can be.
