Working towards the well being of those in need has always been a driving force in my life. The twenty years of active community service in the Salinas Valley has provided me with the experience and qualities needed to serve as a successful council member. The importance of education is a central point of my convictions. One of my accomplishments is the success of "Empowerment", a curriculum that I developed for at risk high school students. I strongly support parent involvement in education, for that reason I am actively involved in several parent advisories as well as Parent Patrol, which deals with providing a safe environment for our children. I am proud to say that my daughter will be graduating from Northern Arizona State University this year and my son is a student at Hartnell College. The safety of our city is significant to all of us. I have volunteered to participate in police ride alongs so that I could see firsthand what is going on in District 2. My interest in safety prompted me to attend the Salinas Police Community Academy, I graduated from the Academy in 2001. I am a volunteer intern for the County of Monterey Distrtict Attorney's office. Volunteering in law enforcement is allowing me the opportunity to gain further experience that enables me to better understand the issues facing the residents that I look forward to represent.
