Help bridge the gap between 9th and 12th grade to career statusQualified - I believe that I possess the education and maturity to make the right decisions affecting the education of our youth in Kern County high schools. There are too many pitfalls between the college bound students and students that are not college bound. I will work diligently with the KHSD to BRIDGE THE GAP between 9th and 12th grade and to minimize the number of students falling through the cracks. Innovative - Develop new and viable programs between local businesses and students that are not college bound. Bringing students and local businesses together after their second year of secondary education with emphasis on placing them with white collar training as well as the blue collar industry OJT-on the job training for students. Students can achieve their potential goals through VOCATIONAL training and equipping them with the technology necessary to make them productive citizens. Safety-- Everything possible must be done to help our youth stay focused on their education and deter them from drugs, gangs and violence. Our students deserve a safe, drug and violence free environment without reprisal from drug peddlers and gang members hindering their education. Accountability - I promise to be accountable to you the taxpayer for monies allocated for training and instruction. Sound budgeting must be practiced to fund programs that will best benefit our children's education and not, for activities that neither benefit the purpose nor the goals or the student's education. Accessible - I will be available to listen to any concerns or problems that students, teachers, parents, counselors or any concerned citizens have in reference to high schools in our district. My biggest interest is giving the student's the best opportunity to become proud and productive citizens after completing their education, and making sure no child is left behind. |
